Microsoft NZ

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more. Microsoft has been in New Zealand since 1990 and works across a broad array of partners and customers in all market segments both private and public. Microsoft New Zealand is also working with many exceptional and innovative partners and customers to crack major societal issues. An exemplar of this is the research being carried out by The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA). Microsoft awarded NIWA an AI for Earth grant in order to analyse past weather data and major events such as “The Week It Snowed Everywhere” to help predict future weather patterns. A second recipient of an AI for Earth grant is innovative NGO Sustainable Coastlines, which launch a Litter Database that makes citizen scientists of New Zealanders, arming them with data to keep beaches clean and beautiful.
