Chris Saxby

Deputy Chairman

Chris arrived in Auckland in late 2017, taking up the role of Managing Director Babcock (New Zealand). He joined the team from UK where he was Babcock’s Head of Programmes for Warship Support holding the unique client-side responsibility for complex-warship Class Output Management for the Royal Navy’s Type 23 Frigates, Amphibious ships and Sandown class Mine Counter-Measure Vessels.

Chris has a wealth of experience from both Babcock, for warship and naval base management, and his previous 34 year career in the Royal Navy which blended engineering sea appointments across steam, diesel, gas turbine and HV all-electric ship technologies with increasingly senior appointments ashore responsible, inter alia as Design Authority, for safely sustaining the availability of surface ship and submarine power systems: directing policy (inc safety); support activity (inc at the waterfront); inventory management; and, technical development (inc research). He was a trusted architect and leader in the UK MoD’s recent warship Common Support Model change programme.
